Sugarbeet planting recently wrapped up across Idaho. Samantha Parrott, Executive Director of the Snake River Sugarbeet Growers Association said the spring weather was beneficial in a variety of ways.

“Generally, Mother Nature cooperated, which is fantastic,” she said. “It was a little wet, you know, in western Idaho and in Oregon and eastern Idaho as well. So, you know, it’s a little challenging to get in the fields, but generally, it sounds like planting was very smooth across our growing region.”
Parrott noted that beets are starting to emerge across Idaho, Oregon and portions of Washington. And she said there were a few areas that experienced frosts this spring, resulting in some replants, but the number of frost replants was far less than 2024.
“But you know, it seems like the 2025 crop is shaping up to be a really great crop,” Parrott said. “You know, the beets that have emerged are looking really good. Growers are pretty happy with their stand. So, I am really optimistic about the 2025 crop.”
